Our Rabbi

Rabbi Mishkin, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, is the new rabbi at Temple Beth Israel.  Rabbi Mishkin, who began his rabbinic tenure on August 1st, enjoys spending time with congregants of all ages—from the nursery school children to the older adults.  He is dedicated to creating a fun, caring, and relevant vision of Judaism to the TBI community.

Rabbi Mishkin attended the University of Pennsylvania, earning a B.A. in American History.  Following graduation, he engaged in serious Jewish learning at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, a coed Yeshiva in Jerusalem, and at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City, receiving his rabbinic ordination in 2001.  From 2001-2005, Rabbi Mishkin served as the Rabbi and Executive Director of the Hillel at Northwestern University, and helped increase Jewish activities and participation on campus.

Most recently (2005-2009), Rabbi Mishkin served as the Assistant Rabbi and Associate Rabbi at Beth Hillel Congregation Bnai Emunah in Wilmette, Illinois.  Some of his responsibilities included programming for young families, supervising the Shabbat morning children’s services, working with Bar and Bat Mitzvah students and their families, supervising the Social Action committee, and coordinating the Hebrew High program.  He has served on the Board of Directors for the Solomon Schechter Day School, the Executive Committee of the Chicago Board of Rabbis, and the Recruitment Committee at the Chicagoland Jewish High School.

Rabbi Mishkin was married to Tamara Noble in August of 2009.
