Shalom: On behalf of our Board, and our entire community, let me welcome you to the Temple Beth Israel web site. Temple Beth Israel is truly a very special place, and we are proud to celebrate the temple’s 75th Anniversary in Port Washington and our unique role as Port Washington’s only Conservative synagogue. Our congregation is large enough to have something for everyone and yet intimate enough to you to meet know and become friendly with many of our congregants. As important as our activities are, what truly makes Temple Beth Israel special is the warmth of the community and the people who are part of our wonderful synagogue. So many members have become lifelong friends from their temple affiliations. Countless members are there to support each other in times of happiness and sorrow. Our congregation is very active both through committees and individually, with the common goal to work tirelessly to improve TBI and Port Washington community. We offer a wide assortment of programming for our entire community, from our education programs which include a thriving nursery, religious and Hebrew high school, to a wide range of adult education (daytime, evening and weekend classes, Lunch and Learns, Sisterhood book events, Seminary student visits); from community “fun events” (Monte Carlo nite, Comedy Clubs, Ethnic dinners, Kids Bingo, Mom’s Night Out, trips to ball games, and kayak journeys) to supporting our community in times of need through visits to sick congregants, delivering meals to the homebound, home prayer services for those sitting shiva. Far better than our web site, please come and check us out in person. We want to meet you and hear from you. Let us share our second home with you in person. Please contact our office at tbiport@aol.com and speak with our Synagogue Administrator, Lisa Naiburg, for additional information. Jonathan White |
