Temple Beth Israel is a Conservative synagogue located in a quiet, wooded setting on Temple Drive in the heart of Port Washington. Founded in 1933 it has as its hallmark a commitment to nurturing a warm, family-like atmosphere for its members. The Temple offers a full range of religious services, education and social events for adults and children.

ARE YOU BURIED IN PAPER? Most of us are at this time of year – and throughout the year! Bag all your unwanted paper that need to be shredded and bring it to TBI on: SUNDAY, MAY 5, 10AM-NOON; Lower parking lot. All documents will be shredded in the professional mobile shredding truck, while you watch! $10 donation to TBI for up to 3 boxes or bags.

The Port Washington Rosh Chodesh Group presents its next meeting on May 9, 9:30- 11:00 AM. Film: Sister Rose’s Passion. Guest Speaker: Sister Gerri O’Neill. Sister Rose’s Passion tells the inspirational story of an activist who made the battle of anti-Semitism her life’s work. Sr. Gerri has been active in the Catholic Church for 60 years and brings her personal experiences to our meeting. Held at: The Amsterdam at Harborside.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The Briefcase Project, a large-scale collaborative initiative of AmeriCorps and UJA Federation of New York, is holding a day of Women’s Empowerment on June 4, 2013. The event is being held at the Economic Opportunity Commission at 134 Jackson Street, Hempstead, NY, 11554 from 9:15 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The event will be focusing on job readiness, including seminars on: Interview Preparation skills (IPREP); Proper Business Attire; Social Media Networking; and Resume & Cover letter preparation. We need volunteers to help make this initiative a success! This a wonderful opportunity to do an important mitzvah. For more information please contact the Temple office.
